The world of prokaryotes, although invisible to the naked eye, constitutes the essential part of the biological diversity and biomass of the planet. The systematics of prokaryotes studies the classification and identification of organisms without a nucleus, including bacteria and archaea, based on their morphological, biochemical, and genetic characteristics. The cours “Systematic of prokaryotes” aims to clearly present the fundamentals of prokaryotic systematics to third-year undergraduate microbiology students, as well as to anyone from other disciplines wishing to become familiar with this field. It represents the continuation and deepening of the knowledge acquired in the second year within the General Microbiology course unit.
